Opportunity to leverage early mover advantage in a tightly held district within the Mt Isa Copper Belt, with limited modern exploration conducted at the Project area.
Location: Mount Isa Copper Belt, Northern Queensland, Australia Tenement: EPM 28271 Ownership: 100% Aruma Resources Ltd (ASX: AAJ)
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Bortala Project is also located in the Mount Isa Copper Belt, Queensland. It is situated south of the Company’s Fiery Creek Copper Project, and immediately south of 29Metals’ high-grade Capricorn Copper Mine. Bortala is also located close to major infrastructure at the Mount Oxide and Lady Loretta Projects, and global players like Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Teck hold exploration tenure in the district.
GEOLOGICAL SETTING AND HISTORICAL WORK
The Bortala Project is underlain by older Haslingden Group rocks, prospective for copper-gold stratiform mineralisation, IOCG systems and associated uranium. The Project host numerous prospects including;
R9 PROSPECT: ~500m north/south strike copper anomaly, hosts an epithermal-style vein system, confirmed in historical sampling and mapped by Aruma. Historical Cu, Au, Pb and Zn drilling intersections.
NARA PROSPECT: historic rock chips returned elevated copper
CROLL PROSPECT: along strike of Capricorn Copper Mine hosts an historic soil anomaly and is yet be drill tested
BOUNDARY CREEK PROSPECT: similar geophysical features to Capricorn Copper/Mt Isa mineralisation
EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES
Aruma has conducted field mapping, which extended the R9 anomaly to a strike length of ~500 m, including areas of fresh outcrop. A hyperspectral survey has been conducted over the Project area (and also over the Fiery Creek Project) to assist in delineating mineralogical anomalies and refine targeting.
The Company will adopt a systematic approach to exploring the Project. This will include; systematic surface sampling, followed by ground geophysics (gravity and IP), aimed at defining drill-ready targets for a maiden drilling campaign.
